The Akha are one of the hill tribes in Northern Thailand that originate from China. The picture shows two Akha women and their traditional dress. Akhas settle in larger families where men and women live in separate rooms.

Many of the people in that area are drug edicts, as this is one of the largest opium producing regions in the world.
