In Asia life always happens close to water or right on water. In the lower regions of Thailand, close to the major river deltas, the country is passed by many ‘Klongs’, which is the name for side arms of rivers or channels. Water is an ideal road for traffic. But also everyday life happens on the water. Here is a picture showing the ‘swimming market’ of Damnoen Saduak, about 110 km west of Bangkok. There is hardly anything you cannot buy on one of the boats.
